Nobody here answered your question correctly, someone gave you the proper name, but that's not the question you asked, someone even wrote to you "Who thought that invented it" and that wasn't your question either.
The correct ANSWER to your question is "That flat little rectangle thing" is 4 inch by 2 inch and a 1 inch thick piece of stainless steel, that's exactly what it is. It is kept in a bucket of ice during the fight and is used by the "Cut-man" in between rounds to try and control swelling to both the eyes and or nose, pressure is applied directly on top of the area that is swollen and pushed away from the eye, if it is the nose it is held in place. The name of the gadget is Nswell short for "End Swell" and I don't think that Angelo Dundee takes credit for inventing it since one form or another has been used since the 30's, a few years before Old Angie's time, they did use Silver Dollars in a bucket with ice and use them for swelling way back then.
Thanks for the fantastic question Just LQQkin.

Endswell. Dundee believes he invented it. It is kept on ice, applied to a mouse or any facial swelling between rounds.

They are made of aluminum. It's very cold and can act as temporary coagulant (if bleeding) or will stave off swelling.

Used to just use ice cubes but then they'd melt and the blood would get in the eyes and screw up vision.
