I don't think he should retire just yet. He has been in some incredible wars but he's been killing himself to make weight and i think he may have some fight left in him at a higher weight like 140 or 147. It's obvious to me that the struggle to make weight amd Casamayor's tricky southpaw style played a role in Diego not fighting the best fight he could've fought. I would like to see him move up and maybe fight a Ricky Hatton or a Miguel Cotto. He'll be at a more natural weight for someone with his height and frame and those guys would be right in front of him so he has a chance of looking a lot better than he did against Casamayor.

Robert ~
In "our" opinion, since the question is "What do "WE" is the same as it was before Diego lost, he should retire, he's been in way too many wars and put his body threw unnecessary punishment through the beatings and starving such a tall frame to make weight. All "WE" have to do is go back to his brutal fights with Castillo or his brutal knockout loss to Mayweather to see he was well on his way to being shot, granted he beat Castillo the first time, but at what price?
A fighter developes Dementia the longer he/she stays in the game than their body will allow, Diego is at that point now. Sure he's exciting to watch, he has the heart of a young lion and he knows it's job to fight and fight he does, but is it worth the price he will ultimately pay.
"We" think Diego was a really good fighter who always gave his best and showed the heart and class of a true Champion and in that "We" say "Thanks for the memories" and now "WE" think it's time for him to enjoy the rest of life and to enjoy his retirement.
Robert, "WE" thank you for asking a great question.

I agree with Smitty he should move up to Jr. Welterweight and his body(frame) could even support him moving up to Welterweight. If he starts getting beat after making the move then he should consider retirement.

Santana - I respectfully disagree. Diego has several more wars in him.
He lost a close split decision against a guy who's style gives him problems.

His fan base has turned on him for being a hypocrite.......he may have a few fights left, but will never regain the respect he once had.
