Mexico doesn't like The U.S. Congress' plan to build a wall along 700 miles of the border, and its foreign secretary, Luis Derbez, said he may take the issue to the United Nations.
Congress approved the border fence plan last month, before adjourning for the November elections. President George W. Bush has said he will sign it into law.
Mexico sent a diplomatic note last week criticizing the plan and asking the president to veto the legislation.
Speaking to reporters in Paris, Derbez said U.S. immigration policy was being used for political gain. On a tour of Europe, he said he was raising the matter with his counterparts in France, Italy and Spain.

Steve J - Why in heaven's name would the US need Vicente Fox's permission to build anything? I am all for a 2000 mile fence plus armed guards on the border. Come in legally or stay the hades out.

Once again Bush plans to do something without having full consent from others. Vicente Fox never approved of the fence. Does Bush care? No!
I believe a fence around the entire 2,000-mile border should be built. But from an ethical standpoint, what Bush is doing is just wrong.

The 700 mile fence is going on our soil - Mexico has no say in something like this. Mexico is not a part of THE UNITED STATES - it's a country of its own. The only reason the Mexico is going against this fence is becaues it will be a huge detour for those who are planning to come to this country illegally. I hope the UN dismisses this petty crap that Mexico is pulling. Funny how Mexico wants to keep their border security really strict when it comes to citizens of other countries coming in - - while Mexico's citizens "should just be able" to go wherever they want. The UN will see how crazy their idea sounds and they'll dismiss it.

Bush does not need the consent of others to build a wall at the border. He does need the consent of congress who are the ones that approved of the wall being built. He does not need to consult the UN or Vicente Fox to build a wall on sovereign soil.
Yes the wall is being built for political gain. 80% of Americans approve of the wall. In order for most politicians to keep their jobs the wall must be built.
Many leftists have compared the wall to the Berlin wall. This is the most dishonest and deceitful things ever uttered by a politician. The wall is designed to keep people out. The Berlin wall was designed to keep people in. There is no comparison. I liken it to the fact that I lock the door on my house when I leave for the day. This is to keep people that I do not approve of from entering my home. I could be charged criminally, up to the death penalty for locking someone IN my house.
The wall must be built. illegal immigration must be stopped and Mexicans must stop accepting a corrupt government whose best offer to them is to run to another country.

Bush's company vendors call for low-cost Mexican perplexing artwork, and that is what they shall get. P.S. After repeds managed both homes of Congress for 12 years and all 3 branches of authorities for 6 years, they by no skill made a unmarried flow to shelter the border. Why do not you're taking your irrational little rant to them rather of whining about Hillary?

Well, we are on the security council, and do have a veto over UN actions,
And most European countries and Australia are trying to stem similar illegal immigration floods (but smaller)
And evan Annan has admitted that immigration is an internal matter for each sovereign country...
But why not?
Let him bring it to the UN.
And lose what little support in the US that they may have left...

By all means let them whinge ... with all what's going on with North Korea, Iran and other trouble spots ... does anyone really think the UN would give a flying fart about whether the U.S. builds a fence on its own soverign soil or not?

I don't like el presidente Fox's moustache. He should shave it.
He should also get rid of all those shacks I can see on his side of the border as I'm passing thru El Paso. They're eye sores.
Also, they should stop all that corruption in his government. He needs to clean that up now.
Raspberries to el presidente Fox.
