Because Faith is the only thing keeping that person going, your life on Earth isn't as important as your after life, read the book Job in the bible, the exact same thing happened to him.

God never promised following Him would be easy, but He did promise to help us to endure the trials. I've spent a lot of my life in the toilet too, but I've also had a lot of blessings in my life because of those trials.

Sometimes a person uses faith as a crutch to get through tough times. The tougher the times, the more the person thinks they are being "tested". They are basically thinking of themselves as being like Job in the Bible. It's a bit egotistical, but it sometimes helps them through.

Not to bash on your cousin, but some people look at God like a life lottery. Instead of making real changes in their lives, or questioning their choices, they gamble on God making it all better.

Well it would be easy to have faith if everything is going great wouldn't it? But I guess that wouldn't really be faith at all.

i must be related to your cousin! lol

ask her the question you are asking us.

i'm betting she will say, "faith is a choice. you don't quit believing in your convictions simply because your having a bad day, week, year, or even decade. God is God and He shall always remain faithful even in our times of trouble." God doesn't allow us to go through bad times because we deserve it for some past sin. He allows us to go through troubled times to strengthen us and to show us that He will help us get through it. God is unfailing in His love for us.
