Which flooring to use really depends upon the purpose of the room.

For a bathroom or kitchen, entryway, sunroom - I would use ceramic tile. It's durable, easy to clean.

Laminates are nice but they aren't as durable. My parents have had many scratches in theirs and haven't had it for more than a few years. I have wood floors myself and love them.

Many laminates and tiles are comparable in price and can be installed by you. In addition, the big hardware stores generally have classes that can help you learn how to do for yourself.

It's laminate,,,No offense,,, and certainly a personal choice. No answers here will be right,,or wrong... We all have individual preferences,,,YOU might even "LAMENT" a choice made by taking advice here?

Any "flooring" can be practical attractive, long lasting, and usually they are so similar in price ranges, the choice is up to you, and some discussion with anyone else involved.

A great tip I learned from my Dad is look for local auctions selling all these kinds of flooring, saves you a bundle.
We put lamanate in our kitchen and im quite dissapointed, it looks cheap, wish I would have done tile.
I would recommend hardwood for the rest of the house, and carpet in the bedrooms, have fun and dont argue to much while doing the renos ;)
