hands are over-used for posters and advertisements trying to get peoples hearts or something....
here are some ideas of some symbols of compassion. i would suggest incorporating several different ones in a slightly abstract way. compassion is incorporated into so many religious practices. i would combine them together....

virtues....of compassion...when extending yourself, or your goods or your time, do it without the hope of nothing in return. Your motives for extending your self to the highest spiritual growth or wealth should be purely should be honest...not self seeking...Not keeping records of our extention...but humbly being grateful for the opportunity that God has allowed you...this is a wonderful blessing...for both the giver and the reciever.
