I feel for you because I have been there. I tried exercise like swiming without changing my diet but it didn't seem to work. The thing that helped me loose the 30 pounds that I had gained over a one year period was a low fat diet and time. It took me a year to gain the weight and it has a way of sneaking up on you and before you know it your cloths won't fit and you are in denial, like it must be the cloths or something, did they shrink? Anyway, the first step is realizing you are a aheavier weight than you want to be. It took a whole year for me to undo the damage I had done to my body...all the fast food and sedintary lifestyle (desk job 10 hours a day). The best thing to do is make a commitment to a healthier lifestyle and realize it will take time. Have patience, if you stay away from greasy, fatty, empty calorie foods and do it consistantly it WILL work. I think exercise is good too but I think diet makes the best impact plus, once you start losing weight you will want to be more active automatically because you will have more energy. Good luck and you can do it.

I've done it all, and the only thing that works is simply cutting back on intake and increasing exercise. Weight Watchers is the best plan out there. However, if you have the discipline to push away from the table, limit fats, and get in some exercise without the accountability of going to weigh in meetings, the weight will come off.
Don't starve yourself or kill yourself with an exercise regiment that is too strenuous. It doesn't take a lot, try cutting back about 10% of your intake and increase your exercise (brisk walking is great) you'll be surprised how fast the inches will come off. Maybe not pounds but it's the inches that are important.

The best way to lose weight is to remember that the calories you take in should be less than the calories you put out.
Eat good foods. You can eat "low calorie" junk food and lose weight, but in the long run, you will be less healthy than you are right now. Divide your plate into 4 sections. 1 section should be for protien (3-6 oz is a good portion size). 1 section for good carbohydrates such as a baked sweet potato or beans. The other 2 sections should be for vegetables. Veggies are great for keeping you filled up and keeping you feeling good.
Go for a walk everyday. If you aren't doing any exercise at all right now, start slowly. Just do 10 minutes a day. When that becomes "easy" to do, up it to 20 minutes. Strive for a goal of 30 minutes of aerobic exercise every day. Toss in some strength training every other day to help build that lean muscle that will burn more calories.
Don't let yourself feel ashamed. You are no different than 80% of the population. Feel good about yourself and the changes that you're going to do for your health

Hard work lots of cardio and lower your intake. It is very easy and you don't have to spend a dime ( only on a good pair of running shoes). Cut the bad carbs.

Be patient...it's not easy. You have to eat less and excercise more...BUT!!!...you need to start exercising slowly or you could hurt yourself or lose interest quickly...
Again...be patient...look at what you are eating, when, and why. You might fail, but get yourself back up and try again...
