I HATE going to class.. the drive sucks, the class sucks, and I hate math. I actually learn better on my own, because my teacher sucks. But i really need to go, i've already missed 4 classes and school has only been in for a month! I just get so tired from doing other things that I don't go. instead I just sit around or sleep.. so it's not like I'm ditching school for any good reason!! Does anyone have any good tips on making yourself GO to school?? seriously.. any help is appreciated!!

I convince myself that if I don't finish each class, I will be another semester behind schedule and that's a royal pain. Just DO IT...we're ALL in the same boat! :)

You don't say how old you are or what grade you are in. In most college sif you missed 3 classes -- you are dropped...so I think you may be in High School. If that is the case, go immediately to your guidance counselor. Explain your boredom in this class (because that is what it probably is if you learn better on your own and hate the class). Your counselor can through administrative means have you placed in a class where it is a better learning environment for you.

Meanwhile -- if that doesn't work, speak to the teacher/professor. You may be able to do the classwork at home and come in for exams. If you are in college - you'll lose one grade for not attending -- but if you were an A student - that means you'd receive a B -- not bad for not wanting to sit in class.

Good luck.

I didn't like math classes either....because I was poor at math. My school system did not provide the fundamentals that lead to math. I thought about what I would do with the knowledge I gained, even if I didn't like it. I ran track and worked on math problems when I ran. That gave me a lot of time to figure out how do do stuff. I had a choice, learn the basics that might provide an answer I needed later or just get myself in trouble again by "messin' with the teacher". I chose to learn for me.

In retrospect, I enjoyed almost all of my classes, regardless of the quality of teacher, interest in subject, or whatever. I knew how very fortunate I was to even be there. And I had a genuine lust for learning. I don't mean any disrespect, but kids these days take for granted their opportunities for higher education. My parents had to scrape to put me through, and to this day, I don't know how they did it. Your time in school should be taken as seriously as possible. After that, you're up against the cold, cruel world. Soak up as much as you can while you have the chance. If you think that's hard to do, just wait until you have to support yourself, and/or a family.

If its not too late drop the class and take it next semester but sign up for a teacher you have heard good things about. I had a math class one semester taught by a Chinese guy who had a thick accent and I really couldnt understand anything he said. So I just waited til next semester to take the class with someone else. IF It is too late to drop just make sure you pass the rest of your tests with good better than good grades. Seems lilke with most classes I have ever took it was my exam grades that really made up my final grade.

look at it this way--you are paying your school for a service. even if it's not the best service, you've already shelled out the bucks for it. so, you may as well go. especially since there are some teachers that have an attendance policy. so, go. when you are in class, take the opportunity to either do your homework or make fun of the teacher.

You must live at home and/or have all your bills paid.

My motivation was being 21 (divorced) with a child without child support and a hell hole of an apartment I wanted to get out of. I worked one full time job- a part time job- and went to school full time (plus payed for daycare while I went). Wanna talk about SUCKS!
I made 11K a year then- I now make trip digit!!

Girl, get off your butt and suck it up. Unless you just wanna remain unmotivated for the rest of your life and settle. You only get back from life what your willing to put into it. Will it beat your **** somedays- yep. But, you'll beat it's **** more days then not, in the long run.

Do your work! No whiners allowed. Otherwise- in 10 years...don't come crying to me about what you ain't got.

:-)

what do you want to be when you grow up? Colleges look at your transcripts and math is a very important subject. I hate school also, work is a waste of a life and i hate people, but i go because i want to have a good career in order to raise my family.
