I would worry too if this was my child. I used to do the same thing and wore down the molars on both sides of the bottom teeth. It also caused me to have TMJ=TEMPERAL MANDIBULAR JUNCTION, PAIN IN THE JAW AND JOINTS WHILE CHEWING.
I would suggest that you make an appointment for your daughter to see a dentist for this condition A.S.A.P. if it worries you not to say that anything is wrong with her. there are simple orthodontic appliances like a mouth guard= a thin rubber bite plate that stops you from grinding down your teeth this is what I use at night. You can't choke on it and there are many others I'm sure a Doctor or Dentist can suggest. Please don't hesitate and know this is a common condition alot of people have it know your not alone! Good Luck!

TMJ is caused by clenching of the teeth,(TMJ is related to stress) while grinding is a differnt all together . . . the best thing todo is go see a dentist depending on the age they will be able to make her a mouth gaurd that will keep here from causing damage to her teeth. some people just grind there teeth for no reason at all. If you dont have insurance to cover the cost of a dentist visit or for a mouth gaurd you can purchase a night guard from any pharmacy such as brooks or rite aid, this night guard gives you instructions on how to adjust it to your mouth, but it depends on the age of your daughter.

so a strategies as i understand, there is not any thank you to circumvent teeth grinding. in spite of the fact that, you ought to examine which comprise your dentist for a chew guard which you would be able to placed on at night (if this is whilst the grinding happens)...this might help relieve an discomfort you have got on your jaw, and shop your teeth some placed on!

7 years ago I've been involved in a car wreck and even since suffered with severe on and off facial and jaw pain. I've tried almost everything western medicine had to offer and had visited countless of specialist, had done ct scans, and therapies but to no avail. The doctors I have been to had persisted that there wasn't anything wrong with me and that almost drove me crazy as I was going through hell from this condition. According to all my symptoms I was diagnosed by a holistic doctor as having TMJ and he had recommended this book to me. After following the recommendation in the book for several weeks, it had changed my life. I got immediate relief after following the unique set of exercises in the book and after 2 weeks the jaw and face pain had completely gone. I only wish I would have ordered this program years ago. It would have saved me a lot of pain and anguish.

This could seriously damage her teeth. This happened to my cousin once and every morning he would wake up with his teeth feeling wobbly. Take her to the dentist, they'll give you like some sort of mouthguard which she has to put on before she goes to sleep.

Can be due to stress. Can cause headaches for her. Talk to dentist and they can get her a special mouth piece.

she can also get TMJ a.k.a. "lockjaw" - when you wake up in the morning and go to yawn or open your mouth wide, your jaw literally gets stuck and you have to crack it back into position (like you would crack your knuckles).
