I was using MS Word and I think clicked something by mistake. Now I have all these paragraph symbols and arrows all over my work. Is there a way to get rid of those?

This answer assumes you are using MS Word 2003, other versions will most likely have similar steps.

Click in the Tools menu, and select Options

In the center of the Options window that opens in a section titled "Formatting Marks", and one of the options in there is "Paragraph Marks". Right now 'Paragraph marks' is most likely checked; so, uncheck it and select "OK".

Now the paragraph marks should be gone.

You are showing non printing "hidden" charachters you need to right click on your standard tool bar and then click add or remove buttons put the button with the paragraph symbol back on the "standard tool bar" (if not already there) and click it to make them dissappear. Either way they won't print out. The arrows are tabs and Paragraph marks are spaces

Find the paragraph sign in your toolbar, if you can't find it, click View, then Toolbars, then check Standard, And you'll see the Paragraph icon is there. Maybe it was activated that's why you were seeing paragraph signs all over your sentences. Just deactivate it! Have fun!

These are called "Formatting Characters" they won't be printed, They just appear on the screen while you are editing the document, If you click Print Preview they won't show up.

Anyway, if you wanna get rid of then do this:Tools/Options/View/ then uncheck all the boxes in the "formatting Marks" section.

Yep, you turned on the "show all symbols" option. To turn it off again ...

Click on "Tools"
Click on "Options"
Click on the "View" tab
About midway down, there is a spot for "Formatting marks" ...
Unclick "All"
Click "OK"
