Yes, there are distinct differences between the three. I sound pretentious, but I am trying to find out what others think. I am in a small town and could not possibly speak to any other real humans about magical systems where I am, so I must ask you, my internet friends.

I could be pretentious myself and point out that it is none of the above, technically it would count as a priesthood as it is a 'religion' without laity only priests/priestesses, or you could also consider it a cult – a small religious grouping with a charismatic leader.

If we are going to choose from the three above I would say religion, I am tempted to say "magico-religious system" in that it is a specific magical practice/tradition within a religious context, but then we would get into the discussion about magic within any religion so that may be overly complicating things.

There is nothing magical about Wicca's it is a religion. Based on the earth and mother nature. The followers are called witches. What magical systems are you talking about?

It is a religion with its own specific structure, worldviews, practices, and deities.

I may be wrong here, but I believe that the main purpose of Wicca is to connect with and honor specific deities. (Wiccans, please let me know if I'm wrong about the main purpose of Wicca).

It's a religion. Magick is just a small part of it. Much like confession is a small part of Catholicism.
