I really like this guy but all we have been is friends. I want to go out with him but he hasn't asked me out or anything. I think he may be shy because neither of us have ever had a relationship before. Also I have tried to treat him as normally as possible in case he doesn't like me that way. I don't want to lose the friendship but can't stand pretending that everything is okay when it isn't.

You need to decide if it is to be more, or nothing. Then tell him.

Treating him as normally as possible? Like starting a relationship is abnormal? Some guys just don't get the hint. Try simple stuff, don't try to get the big romantic dinner right away. I don't know how old you are, but go to Starbucks for a coffee, or a bar (not a pickup place) for a beer. Someplace you can talk without the scrutiny of each others friends. (that can kill a relationship really quickly) Get a chance to get comfortable with each other, and see where it leads.

okay. i'm an xpert on this. if u want to tell if he likes u more than a friend, ask urself "is he giving me more time than he is any other gurl or guy" sometimes guys r jerks and try to not act interested. but this guy dont sound like one of them. if hes really sweet and if he looks into ur eyes alot and sometimes if yall are not really really good friends, then when somebody says something like "oooooh, (made up names) amy n shane r goin out" and he starts to blush, then that's a really good sign he likes you. if yall are really close friends and his buddies used to be jerks but now r nice to u that a good sign too. and if he tries to be alone with u as much as possible then ya he's droolin over u and go ahead and pop the question. (not the will u marry question tho) :D one really good thing to do is pray about it and if yall r supposed to be 2gether then it will happen.

Hard to say but if he likes to talk to you or just enjoys hanging out with you he just might. just because he does not want to date does not mean he does not want to develop a relationship!! I can respect him for not wanting to date you should too.

Does he keep staring at you, then quick look away at the sight of you catching him? That is usually a sure sign.

Does he wanting to hang around with you more than other girls ?
If you guys are close, can you ask him what kind of girls he likes ?

some boys react in different ways. some will show you to people he cares about others hold you in different ways and talk to you different than he talks to with other girls. it really depends on his personality.
