I think they want all this power to dictate to others when, where and how people can exercise their beliefs. What do they want to do create a Communist country? We would be no different from the Communist if we allow the ACLU to continue to bash God believing people making them take down our history of our Religios heritage and take the rights from our freedom of religion and dictate to parents how to raise our children. They want to dictate what should be learned in school, stop children in school if they want to have a Bible study. What would they rather see a bunch of out of control children that have no faith in anything and for them to become gay? I say that because it seems that they are the ones that are trying to shove this nonscence down our kids throats!!! LET US RAISE OUR OWN KIDS THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Answers please only from those who know what they are talking about. Check out for yourself what they are trying to infringe on America. Taking down crosses at cemeteries, Ten Commandments out of Government buildings (God forbid someone might get something good out of it,) What do they want next to remove all the tomb stones with crosses on them next? How far are we going to let them go??

because they are a bunch of athiestic communists who through the courts will try and make Amerika a communist police state. They hate capitalism and free market enterprise too! The only religion they don't want banned is Islam.

The ACLU isn't trying to ban anything. The sole purpose of the American Civil Liberties Union is to - protect our civil liberties. Imagine that!
If your civil liberties have been violated, you can go to the ACLU for free representation. This applies to anyone. The ACLU may even represent the Westboro Baptist "Church" (hate group in my opinion) about them being banned from picketing funerals in several states.
As far as the "no Bible study in school", well, that's not true in CA. There are many schools that allow students to use the facilities after school for Bible study.
Story time! I remember one year when I was approached by another mother who was a type of pagan (not sure what type) who was wanting all the other pagan and heathen families to ban together and file suit. Why? Because the school our children attended had two different religious study groups after school - Jewish and Christian. But when they were approached about a Community Ceremony/Pantheonic Study on the property, the school refused.
Of course, I couldn't join such a suit because we don't proselytize in Asatru and I considered a public ceremony on school property a form of proselytization. But when the families that did join filed suit to force the district to allow pagan and heathen children the same considerations, the school simply - (watch this!) CANCELED THE BIBLE STUDY CLUBS!
Great Gracious Goddess! Now, whose fault was that? The school was so determined to not allow pagans to study on the campus that they actually told the christians they couldn't either. Which was highly effective in killing the basis for the suit, but a crappy thing to do. Because you know all those Jewish kids and Christian kids were really mad. And they took it out on the pagan kids, of course. Not the school that canceled their clubs, the other kids who just wanted a study club of their own.
I'm so glad we didn't get involved in that suit. But then again, if we had... Well, let's just say there is nothing in the Asatru belief system that says you can't pound the crap out of someone if they threaten you or even annoy you too greatly. But since Hospitality IS one of the Nine Noble Virtues, you may want to offer them a glass of water first and then swing 'em by the ER. All the little 'do no harm' kids probably would have been safely hidden behind my son.
Poor things. All of 'em, Christian, Jew and Pagan kids. Why can't people just learn to live and let live?
ETA: I don't mind the 10 Commandments in public buildings, etc. However, I do firmly believe they should also include the Nine Noble Virtues of Asatru. I do not believe that there is only a Middle Eastern god looking at us and find the admonition to worship a foreign god more than a little offensive. There's nothing like that in Asatru, but there is quite a bit about tolerance. So maybe some christians could get something out of our Nine Noble Virtues just as some agnostic types could get something out of the 10 Commandments. Just a thought...

I agree with Jayelle. I don't think the ACLU is trying to BAN religion. They are trying to keep others from forcing their beliefs on others. How would you feel if you were Christian in a mostly Jewish school? Would you like having your holidays and observance ignored or put down? I think they are aiming for common courtesy and respect.

First of all the word you are looking for is BAN not BAND. A BAND is a group of people who play instruments. A BAN is something that is forbidden.
Second, Christians are the most dominate politic force in America. SHUT UP. You aren't oppressed. The fact that the ACLU is standing up for everyone else who doesn't believe in your mythology is called 'standing up for the little guy'.
Third. You Christians lunatics are all obsessed with anything and everything that is gay. THAT MEANS YOU PROBABLY HAVE SECRET GAY FEELINGS JUST ADMIT IT ALREADY AND SHUT UP.
Go worship your fake god all you want in the privacy of your own home and leave it out of the public. The rest of the world doesn't want to be converted. So again. SHUT UP.

Nobody's telling you not to raise your own kids. The ACLU and like-minded groups don't want you to impose your beliefs on other peoples' kids, or to treat fellow adult citizens like your kids. It is really that simple. Many of the people who bring the school lawsuits are parents of children who were ostracised for being of a different religion. They were trying to raise their own kids.
Or do you only want those rights for yourself? Hmmm....

The ACLU once helped a man who was wanting to preach in public but was arrested for doing so. They were protecting his right to free speech.

Like any attorney someone has to file a compliant first and they have to think its worthy of taking to court FIRST.And win. So don't put all of the blame on them. put it on the narrow minded person that filed the complaint first. That's the one who's doing the banning.
