You will need exactly 12 quarts of chili to safely feed 25 people if the chili is the entree of the meal.Unless you are feeding my friends , in that case you will need 24 quarts. My friends love my chili and they eat at least two bowls each.

I would say that if you are serving the chili; along some other items in the menu, you should calculate for 1 cup of chili for each guest. If you are serving just chili and lets say corn bread or chips ten calculate 10/12 oz of chili per guest.

Wow, if that's all they're eating, I would have to know if they're big eaters and for how long they're going to be eating; If it's several hours (like a tailgate), I'd say at least 25 pounds of meat, plus another couple of pounds of beans (if you like them), a few large onions, spices, maybe tomatoes...you're talking about 35 pounds of chili! If there's other food, maybe 15 pounds of meat plus the other stuff...

If it's a GOOD Homemade chili, you can never make too much. My grandmother would always make way too much for one meal, so she would just put what was left into empty butter bowls and put it in the deep freeze. It will last forever too.

I usually plan on 4 servings per pound of beef...then adjust the recipe according to the beef.

So...7-8 lbs beef would probably be needed..better to have too much..it freezes well!!
