Make your own art. It doesn't have to be done by a professional artist to add an artistic touch to the room. Go big and bold....buy a stretched artist canvas from the art supply store ( try 4'x4' ) and while you are there, buy an assortment of beautiful, colorful mulberry and rice paper. Using a decoupage medium or clear acrylic varnish paste torn bits of the paper all over the canvas until it is all filled in. Use different size bits and try to keep the edges of each piece rough by tearing rather than cutting....when finished, the torn edges give the illusion of paint blending and the fibers in the paper also contribute to a painterly effect. You can seal it with another coat of medium to make it look more like paint, too. This should fill your needs until you can find a real painting you can't pass up.

Go visit www.allposters.com. While I'm sure you want a real art piece, you can visit this website and get an idea of what you think would work well in your home. Once you find what you think would work, then hunt a reproduction down. Or, if you're strapped for $$$, then purchase a poster, take it to Hobby Lobby or your local arts and crafts store and have it matted and framed. Very cost effective.

Best wishes and good luck!

Go to the museum of modern art in your city.See what true "modern art" looks like. In my opinion, some of it shouldn't even be classified as "art".Go to the gift shop in the museum and purchase some post cards of the art you like. Contact an artist friend to duplicate them in the size you need. Most likely, you could get a canvas and paint them yourself, with a minimum amount of art skills.

Salvador Dali (sp?) has some great thought provoking pictures or Vincent van gough's starry night. I like salv more cuz the colors are Rich and would work with the red accents well. We have one hanging in our dining room and the color of the furniture is like a mahogany. It looks great.

black and creamy colored furniture with red accent, i think works best with red colored walls. A brick red painted wall is good with black furnitures. Just like a white wall with black furnitures. It complements each other and offers a stark contrast, just the same with a creamy and black furniture on a brick red wall. Black always add sophistication to things and red, a warm color to liven up things at home.

I think a large abstract painting would look nice with your furniture.

I don't know for sure, but you could try some pillows that incorporate brown, black, and beige in rather a plaid pattern. Don't get me wrong, don't go for the kilt plaid. Also, put a black throw on the brown furniture, and a beige throw on the black.
