how should i avoid being hungover tomorrow?

nosh something bulky, salty and with a fair bit of carbs and fat in, both to soak up what's left without needing a stomach pump and to replenish your mineral/nutrient/glucose levels (the usual post-pub hankering for a kebab, a curry, or other such cholesterol/GI/sodium disaster zones has a good physiological reason - the alcohol has leached it all out of you, including the small amount you NEED)

alternatively, or even better in concert - grab a packet of Resolve or similar all-in-one hangover and general malaise cure (has salt, glucose and aspirin in it..), make up according to instructions (dump contents in glass, add water) and down it as quick as possible because it tastes foul

then down a pint to a pint and a half of water, and wait 15 minutes to see if you suddenly need the toilet (go anyway if not - your stomach lining and kidneys work FAST and you dont want to wake up with a soaked bed), then crash out

wake up feeling... well, like you can survive the day. i wont promise sunshine and rainbow beams. it was Vodka after all, the most fickle of the spirits.

if it's all in vain, don't waste your time with Rennies tomorrow, they're rubbish and will make you feel worse. instead grab two or three aspirin OR ibuprofen (not just paracetamol, but you can take the two types of drug together safely - you need an anti-inflammatory effect more than an analgesic), swallow with some water; allow them some time to work then follow with some gaviscon or similar neutralising goop to settle your stomach, and fuel up on small sips of thick, pureed vegetable or lentil soup with tiny bites of fresh white bread.

PS DONT go taking ibuprofen before heading out on the lash - if they don't either get washed from your stomach (where they will have their best effect) with the first pint, or spazz away all their effect long before you hit the sack, then there's half a chance they'll have a reaction with the alcohol while you're drinking. on the whole, meds + booze = bad news. it's only acceptable when you're back home the next morning "enjoying" a hangover because your drinking is already long finished, you've washed away the excess with water, and the alcohol levels are dropping as the drug ones are rising. what you're treating is the inflammation of your poor abused brain (from methanol poisoning - a side effect of prolonged alcohol metabolism - and lack of water), which takes time to come on - not anything directly connected with the immediate presence of ethanol (which doesn't really hurt things except to put your kidneys in overdrive).

Drink loads of water I find that when I get up during the night if i drink plenty of water or milk I am not so bad in the morning, when you get up take some painkillers and more water and you should be fine and remeber to have breakfast because believe it or not that makes a big difference aswell

As everyone else says drink water. But also chances are your blood sugar levels will be low in the morning giving you that shakes and that feeling of gerneral weakness, so eat something that has a lot of carbs and protien to stop this, if it has a high fat content then your stomach is more likely to hold it down so a kebab!!!

A glass of water and 2 or 3 ibuprofen before you go to bed and you should be fine, but remember to drink a lot of water the next day

prevention is better than cure, always take 2 ibuprofen before you go on a big session and no hangover the next day magic!!!
That wont help you now but drinking a pint of water & taking a tablet b4 you go to sleep and also take a pint with you to drink thro the night should help a bit,

take some vitamins - you lose a lot in your urine when you're drunk. drinking a couple of glasses of water will really help, i also find that paracetomol is the best hangover-painkiller, along with a strong espresso. get a smoothie down you if you can stomache it in the morning.

If all else fails, you can drink more! i just hope you dont work with heavy machinery ;)

A hangover is mostly dehydration. Drink a lot of water. You should drink a glass of water with every glass of alcohol. At least...that's what Maxim said a few months back...

That's easy! Don't wake up. Pull the covers over your head and tell people to leave you to hell alone until one this afternoon. That is blunt and to the point, which is what a hangover is all about.
