theist.
best argument for atheism (sort of, its actually the best argument against bible based religions) is... Proof?! Where's the proof?
now, I think there is proof for the torah (I'm jewish), but I can certainly understand that someone might disagree, especially someone from a non-jewish faith.
And yes, I think most groups have decent arguments for their side, otherwise the group won't be around for so long. (individuals in a group, however, are often idiots.)

An atheist here... Best argument for theism is the concept of Infinite Regression/Prime Mover.
I have seen intelligent arguments for just about everything! :)

atheist - the best argument for theism comes from a bumper sticker i saw once that said:
radical agnostic: I don't know and neither do you.
I think very intelligent arguments can be made that the religious texts of the 'great monotheistic faiths' are not what they are portrayed to be, are not the word of God. These arguments don't prove a thing about a deity, tho, only about human conceit.

Chicky gave this argument: "Best argument for theism is the concept of Infinite Regression/Prime Mover."
I think that may be the best argument that either side has!
That argument makes me an agnostic. In every other way I am an atheist. But note that if for the sake of argument I stipulate that a god exists in order for there to be a Primer Mover, I don't see how that in any way implies that the God of the Hebrew Bible exists. I still think the Hebrew Bible is myth.

Best argument for theism is the one that suggests evidence of a finite universe mandates a supernatural catalyst for existence itself. Of course, I have several hundred reasons why the reasoning is bad and the result inconclusive as to the existence of a god, but...I guess that's why I'm an atheist. Anyway, that is the one argument that makes me really stop and think.

As a Christian, the problem of evil is the most vexing. I don't know that it qualifies as an argument for atheism, however. Deism could also be a default, there.
Yes, I have seen great arguments for many different positions. I'm somewhat literate in the philosophy of religion.

I'm an atheist. I can't prove there isn't a god, neither can anyone else. but nobody can prove there is one, either.
