Basque is all the most difficult that it is considered as language isolate. Indeed it is impossible to link Basque with any Indo-European language.
Basque is probably the oldest spoken language in Europe so far

If you decide to learn Basque, you will have no way to relate it to other Western languages as you can do with English, French, Spanish, German... which have common roots.

so good luck

It's my understanding that it is extremely difficult as it has by far the most complex grammar of any language.

To paraphrase Dave Barry, the best way to learn Basque is to be born a Basque child, of Basque parents in a Basque-speaking part of Spain.

Probably a little easier than trying to learn Gaelic.

You know that the Basque people live in the mountainous region between France and Spain right? I can only recommend a fiction book that takes place in both spain and france and contrasts their cultures. Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises.

I think you'll find it challenging, because its grammar and phonology are complex and quite different from English. Start by looking it up on Wikipedia. And, a simple search on the word "basque" on Yahoo! or that other one (G__gle) will direct you to many helpful sites.
