If your bird is hurt or ill please take him or her to a bird vet. Birds try to hide their illnesses and their injuries and rarily show pain. This is to protect themselves from being pushed out of the flock. When a bird acts really sick it is usually too late.
We get many questions that begin with: "Should I take my bird to a vet?" If you think it, do it.
Some sure signs of illness or injury are:
1. Dull eyes.
2. Puffed up for unusually long times and at unusual times of day (This usually means the bird is trying to keep all the heat it can in his/her system and is ill).
3. Sleeping much more than usual.
4. Eating much less than usual.
5. Sluggish and listless.
6. Loose potties (consistently having wet potties is another major warning sign).
7. Much more needy/cuddly/wanting to be held than usual. (Birds will look to their flock mates to protect them when they are ill.)
8. Weight loss - often the very first sign.
If any of the above doesn't seem right to you PLEASE see your Vet. ASAP. And if you see 2 or more, DON'T WAIT!

Are you sure it's a he? I don't know where Quaker parrots come from originally, but he/she could be displaying a bit of species confusion (looking for a mate). Is he (she) crouching down low with his (her) rear in the air, making cooing noises?
Probably you should have a look at the website below that is dedicated to Quaker parrots. It might answer your question.

I am the proud mommy of a Rosella, (Victor). He loved me hardcore right up till he hit puberty. Now he has gotten aggressive and downright bitchy. he still loves me, but for the most part it is in small bits, like when I have chips, or a grape. Try keeping him out of his cage longer. They can develop aggression when you get near their space, (the cage).
Good luck, and remember the bites only hurt for a couple days...

I usually find it to be true that when my animals are acting out of sorts..an earthquake is about to happen.
I once had a hamster that would hang up side by its hine legs from the top of the cage and just swing it self...an earthquake.
