Two broad of a question. There are to many genres that best car falls under.
Cargo space and carrying space and fuel economy would eliminate the fastest cars like porsche.
Hybrids and eco cars lack the speed and prestige.
4 wheeling trucks are to slow on the highway and are cumbersome in traffic and cities
Jeeps have turned into SUV's.
Surburban house moms turn massive SUV's into single passenger vehicles
This list goes on
As for best- I personally enjoy something that does not cost a fortune- like somebody's house. It should be fast and turn a few heads at the same time and best of all not common as dirt. Under my preferences I find the 2004 Mercury Marauder to be the "best car" because I drive it (:

What do you mean by best? Fastest? Most powerful? Most fuel efficient? Most reliable? Or just paid off?
