how does chemical shine enhancer work?

i bought some at home stuff by clairol but instead of making my hair super shiney its a lighter color. what gives?

Lighter color always looks so shiney,you are taking unnecessary headache ? First of all it reduce the pH of your hair and than act as a bond on the hair,when bonding is complete means chemical reaction is done..the enhancer works w very well.
