First ...........TIME, all scares will decrease in appearance with time.
Second, always use a good lotion, prevent further infections of the site, use sun screen when out, and no matter what DO NOT PICK AT THE SCABS!!!! this is the bodies natural band-aide. You can spend the extra money on the "special" creams, but it is not always necessary

Ouch, that sounds very painful. The best thing that I have used for scars is tea tree oil. You can purchase it in drug stores and the health section of major supermarkets. It is a natural antiseptic from Australia and I keep a small spray bottle of it mixed with 2/3 filtered water on hand at all times for cuts and scrapes and bites. A friend who is a nurse recommended using it on scars, and it really has lessened several that I have from those types of accidents. It is amazing. Give it a try. The Mederma and special bandaids work well, but are much more expensive. Good luck.

You can use the cream Mederma, worked really well for me, and make sure you leave the scar away from the sun for at least 6 months, wear 55 sunscreen, I had 6 stitches on my face 6 months ago and you would never know!

use some ointment on it like maderma, like everyone is saying. it'll help. Also, as long as the cut is healed enough and not scabbed, you can rub it out. If the scar is still red that means that it's healing and if you spend a little time everyday massaging it, that can help it not be so bad. you don't want it to form too much scar tissue and be all held together so that it restricts your motion. I'm in PT school and they taught us about doing massages on them, for someone that had surgery and has a big scar.

Mederma can help heal scars and soften the skin, sometimes making them go away completely. I've used it before and when it works, it works exceptionally well.
