I would suggest ordering them online if you can't find them in the store. Wustof and Heinkels are the best in the business, although both have more inexpensive lines also. Messermeister is also good, I use the Park Plaza series, although inexpensive, and they hold a good edge and are easy to re-sharpen.

The best kitchen knives will be forged, not stamped, and will have a one-piece handle. Stay away from aluminum fittings or handles as these will leave aluminum oxide on your hands and in your food.

You may have to order and return several knives to find the one or two that fit you best. You need to be happy with the feel of the handle in your hand and the balance of the knife when you use it.

There are three Williams-Sonoma outlets in Huston, and that chain carries Wustof. I would assume that anything you want they can get in for you to look at.

Good luck!

I don't live in Houston, so I don't know what they sell or don't sell there, but I can't imagine that there aren't places that sell good-quality knives. The guy just sounds like a terrible salesman - I mean saying something stupid like no chef in Houston uses (good) knives. I'm sure other stores sell what you're looking for.

Otherwise, I like to shop at Williams-Sonoma. I don't know if they have outlets in Houston, but if they don't, then go online:

www.Williams-Sonoma.com

You will find a large selection of quality knives (and everything else, too)

That has to be a joke. Houston is a big city, and I guarantee that many stores in Houston Texas sell Wusthof knifes. That store needs to hire more competent help, go elsewhere!!!
They are very good knives, well worth the money!

I don't know if you can find them in Houston but i would shop around! Wusthoff-Tridents are the best knives money can buy! No other brand can even compare to there quality and craftmanship. Try buying them off the net, or google them ;)
