It used to be "God bless You". It really irritates me when they leave out the "you". Seems awfully lackadasical. like they don't really mean it. I believe it started with Red Skelton and it seemed rather insipid of him.

Lazy and ignorant. If there's a god, and he has "his will," he's going to the two bless me or not in accordance with what his will is, not on some a million/2-hearted sentence spoken by making use of people who prefer to seem to be non secular. And if there is not a god (the main possibly case), the words are meaningless. So why not purely drop them? in my opinion i might lots extremely have somebody say, "take care" than "god bless you"

I dont find anything at all lazy about it. Like many other words that have been shortened. You talk about Red Skelton as if he were the devil himself. Red was very much a Christian and when he said " God Bless" you could tell that it really came from the heart. You should just lighten up

It's not lazyness. It is language. In many (asian) languages the word bless does not take a you. ANd when these ppl (i noticed this in Singapore) started saying god bless it caught on.

It annoys me too, when ppl say god bless instead of 'god bless you'. Also when the say 'are you coming or not' even when they don't intend to be rude.

It's a sort of direct translation from another language.

Yes, we're being lazy. That last syllable is just too much for us. God bless!

Sneezing is the path to the devil. The word "you" has also been determined by scientists, religious scholars, and Joan Rivers to be the pathway to the devil. In short, people are now encouraged to say, "God Bless" instead of, "God Bless You" to ward off evil spirits, save time, and to let Joan Rivers know she still matters...

Please don't let it bother you, it is one small step required to help the entire world...and Joan Rivers...

When you're talking to somebody in particular, you say, bless you. When you're talking in general, you say, god bless.
