I am considering having electrolysis on my upper lip area. After doing some reading, I learned that it can scar. Is this a common occurance?

It is possible to get scarring from electrolysis. The root of the hair is the culprit as when it is zapped and then pulled from it's site it leaves a tiny hole, and that hole will sometimes heal, as a hole, causing the scar.
An experienced electrologist will be able to advise you if you have the probable type of hairs prone to scarring. And she/ he may advise you to seek laser hair removal. Get a consultation to find out what alternatives you have and decide accordingly.

Good Luck =)
