Has anyone tried any type of oral medication for acne? Do they work? Any bad side effects?

Don't know if there is any scientific proof of this, but, I know this is true in my case.

Acne is supposed to be caused by changes in hormones, but drinking dark colored soft drinks (Coke, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, etc.) causes me to have more acne breakouts.

I know the chocolate theory is supposed to be a myth, but the Coke theory of mine, seems to be fact for me.

As far as the medications, my sister tried almost everything. I do think the oral medications work best, rather than topical solutions, but their are side effects. Ask your dermatologist before taking any prescription medications of any kind.

I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!

Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:

1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.

There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.

Well, they are SUPPOSED to help (none have ever really helped me, so I'm bitter. LOL) by helping to decrease the bacterial load in your face. I know that sounds completely nasty, but think of it the same way when you take an antibiotic when you're sick, it makes the bacteria die and go away. Same concept for the bacteria in your face that causes acne. Most doctors usually prescribe an oral medication along with a topical cream to get rid of the acne you have while the pills prevent more from cropping up.

Accutane (Isotretinoin) is proven effective with 90% of it users.

Pros:
Very effective prescription for Acne treatment

Cons:
Very expensive treatment (My doctor told me a 2 month treatment will cost $1000)
Dries out your lips (Need to constantly apply lip balm or you are gonna have crusty bloody chapped lips)
Monthly cholestrol blood checks

Accutane is a super vit a drug, it can cause severe birth defects (no arms in children of mothers who use it or have handled the product).

There are other products, but before you resort to trying those, try adding canned salmon to your diet, about every two weeks.

Bake with plenty of parsley and a little lemon juice for taste at 350 F for about 1/2 hour.
