Timothy
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,.....Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;......For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with lusts,

Lovers of their own selves – the obsession to be beautiful, Youtube making it possible for every persoto be famous and compete more aggresively for it.

Covetous – people want more, greed is increasing, people never satistifed. People have no respect for other peoples husbands or wives anymore and don’t even care that someone is married.

Blasphemers – Bill Maher giddy about a church that caught fire and deserved to burn cuz it doesnt pay taxes for fire dept

Unthankful – society becoming ruder and less polite

Unholy – Proliferation of porn, Springer, Stern, gangster rap, etc.

No, it just proves how gullible some people are.

I find it hard to believe that Bill Maher would be glad that a church burned down. He doesn't love religion (although he believes in God), but I think he'd still have compassion for the people involved, plus a healthy fear of fire.

Are you sure you're not misinterpreting him, like with that "we're the cowards" comment of Sept 2001?

Addedum: Okay, I found the info. It was a joke, and though I'm a Christian, I laughed when I read it. You made it sound as if Maher had reacted to an actual fire. Here's the quote:

"New rule: If churches don't have to pay taxes, they also can't call the fire department when they catch fire. Sorry reverend, that's one of those services that goes along with paying in. I'll use the fire department I pay for. You can pray for rain."
BILL MAHER, Real Time with Bill Maher, Feb. 17, 2006

And here are some reactions to it:

Now this is what you said:
Blasphemers – Bill Maher giddy about a church that caught fire and deserved to burn cuz it doesnt pay taxes for fire dept

Your words made it sound like something it wasn't.

BTW, Bill Maher had a priest or minister on his panel the first show after 9/11/01.

Matthew 24:21 for then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world's beginning until now no nor will occur again 22 In fact, unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved but on account of the chosen ones those day will be cut short.
Before no matter how vicious the war or how extensive there would have been some flesh saved. How did he know we would come to a point where a nuclear war would destroy all flesh.
So things are going to get worse. But some will be saved.
How bad has things been before and this will be worse?
Goes on to say it will be like the days of Noah, they were eating and drinking and that day was instantly upon them.
Wouldn't a nuclear bomb be?

If you can name one moment in history where the conditions you stated were not met, then I'll pay you a million dollars.

Every generation for the past 2,000 years has had its delusional fanatics who claimed they were living in the "End Times." They've all been proved wrong. There is nothing special about today.

The Bible also says in the last days there will be wars and rumors of wars (that one hits home now doesn't it), earthquakes in divers places (tsunamis), and unrest in the middle East. All these things, along with the ones you mentioned above are ripening us up and getting us ready for the "great peacemaker" - the Anti-Christ. How much more proof could anyone need? "People get ready, Jesus is coming, soon we'll be going home."

Hard to say, we may be getting close, but there were probably times like that near the end and even throughout Roman history.

But always be ready, as if it were your last day.

to quote what you typed there "For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with lusts"

That sounds a lot like Oprah doesn't it?

No. Israel becoming a nation again, in fulfillment of prophecy, means that we are in the end times. Next is the Gog-Magog war, then the rapture, then the seven years of tribulation.

Are you ready?

I think we are close to the last days. But we don't know how close, because God's timing is not like ours. You did point out some really good things, and it does seem like we are getting closer to the end. I've read things in other books of the Bible as well, that make it seem like the end is near.
