what he picked up weakened his immune system therefore it is more permeable to colds,flus, and so forth than before. the immune system was somehow affected when your son caught meningicocal x, and it makes it easier for your son t get sicker faster.

I had viral meningitis 10 years ago, twice within six months.
I have been sickly since then. Didn't really realize that until years past and I kept racking up more illnesses than my other friends/ coworkers.
I don't know why though. I found a message board where people who had meningitis shared their concerns. I don't remember what it was called but you could do a search and see what you find. See if you can find other parents with children with similar problems. I don't know if it compromised his immune system or he was and is just more prone to picking up bugs in the first place.

more than likley he now has a compromised immune system, this could be with him for life, depending on what kind and how long he was on antibiotics
