She is biting the hair off of her paws. Not bleeding but I notice thinning. She does it right where the paw bends at the first joint. No fleas or anything like that and she's happy and well adjusted. Spoiled rotten LOL! Only does it at night when we're getting ready to sleep. She sleeps at foot of my bed or whereever she wants to.

Possible allergic reactions to several things. try changing her food to a food that has less corn in it - that's usually a big one that affects them. Also, possible allergies to pollen or things in the grass. dry skin can do it too but it usually doesn't just affect the feet

Her feet may itch after you take her outside. Grass can cause itching....along with other plants. Wipe her paws off with a moist rag when you bring her in....
Or...she could be teething some more and needs a raw hide to chew on.
Or she could have been weened from the mother too soon. I had a cat that did that. She would suck on her toes at when she slept....and she did that her whole life....even when she was 12 years old.

when they start to chew and they have no fleas then usually it is the food. any food with wheat, corn, soy, or beef will cause dry skin and will make them start to chew. try to switch the food to an all natural food like chicken soup which is an all natural food with all natural ingredients. when you switch a food you want to do it slowly( mix 1/2 & 1/2) and then bathe the dog in an oatmeal bath and that will help relieve the dry skin. good luck.

My guess is that there is something irritating her skin and she's trying to get it off ... mites, fleas, even a change of shampoo can irritate the skin. OR, she's teething and doesn't have anything to chew on but herself. I would call your vet and ask for their advice.

Try switching her food. Sometimes pets can do this because of an allergic reaction to something they're eating. Also, no table scraps! People food can make them break out in a rash we can't see.

i use to have a lab dog that would chew on his paws and i was told that he was board. and he would only do it at night also. try to give him something else to chew on at night like raw hide or something to distract him that's what i did.

allergies are very common...the vet can help allieviate the itching with a shot and some meds to take home for her.
