Forsake your family. . .?
I have been working full time in a ministry now for a year and a half. at just 18 that might be a shocker.
But i have also been on my own since I was 12.
Both of my parents were drug addicts and left my sister and I to fend for ourselves.
I now live in a different state than the rest of my family, and I miss them alot but I know this is where God called me to be.
Do you think that it is wrong to forsake your family for the call of God?

Maybe I should expand alittle bit. I have resumed contact with my parents, our relationships are getting better everyday, I continue to pray for them all the time.
I just wanted to see what peoples oppinions where on the matter.
I know that I can always do Gods will, But I was called here. I feel that this is the best place for me to be.
the best place to act upon my calling.
Some people have told me that they think it is wrong to choose God over your family, and even though I know that to be false, I wanted to see what other opinions were out there.

I would never joke about something like this.
That is the candy coated version of my life.
when I was younger I had the hardest time understanding why God would put me in a family like mine.
Now I realise that He put me there for a reason.
If I hadent gone through the things I went through I would not be who I am today.
Now I have the chance to minister to people who have experienced similar situations and show them how faithful God really is.

Seek first the Kingdom of God. If your seeking your agenda your wrong. If what is happening in your life with renewed relationships is a door for you to be a witness to your family don't ignore what may be a great blessing to you. Its not easy and I believe that you have indeed been prepared as trials and hardships are the way God prepares people for His service. Moses fled, Joseph in prison David fled and on and on. Praise the Lord for His grace to you.

the answer you seek is in the bible read with an open mind and remember they are people who make mistakes too so dont be so hard i also had a very hard life and still living it and i only have my mum left i live with regret everyday so if you want to live a good content and happy life my suggestion to you is to patch up the past as best as you can and move on with getting to know who they really are the drugs just covers the true them dont worry and jump on in never leave any regret behind it states in the bible that family is the most important thing without them we would not be here god is also important and the next high priority hope this helps cheers and good luck.

May God continue to Bless and strengthen you- you are in for challenges and thus far haveshown that with His help will overcome. forgiveme for not knowing the exact scripture versebut recall when a man was going to joinand walk with Jesus he said he needed to tend to family matters first - burying someone if i remember correctly - Jesus told him that that was not what was right he was to come and follow Him.
i'm reminded of two songs we sing at church - the first is Be Not Afraid & the second is.... Lord whenyou came to the seashore, You weren't seeking the wise or the weathly but only asking that I might follow. Oh Lord, in my eyes you were gazing, kindly smiling my name you were saying, all i treasured i have left on the sand there, close to You i will find other seas."
stay on he course that God has laid out for you. throughout Hisstory people were called toleave their families and follow Christ. you have found your spiritual marriage with Christ and thus - you need to leave your mother and father and cling to Christ.
GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!

No sounds like they were losers, just too bad you could only find a way to make a life by wrapping your future around silly myths, but whatever floats your boat. And if you can figure out the system there's definitely some serious cash to be made in the whole God scam.

GOD should be the #1 focus of our life,if your work takes you away from your family don't look back,do what is in front of you to do,dedicate all to serving GOD. Circumstances may draw you back into contact with your family, Practice SEEING GOD in all people you are in contact with.

You dear are doing the right thing John l0:27 says My sheep hear
My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. nkjv
You are doing the right thing, satan will always make you doubt when you are doing work for your Lord. He probably has sent you "family" to love you as you do your work. May God Bless You.

You are called to forsake your family when you take a wife.. When making a career decision, it requires the same diligent sacrifice.
