The normal menstrual cycle is 21 to 31 days, meaning, the day you get your period, is day one. Then you count 21 days and mark it in your calendar and write all the numbers up to 31, every month. Sometimes my periods have come on the 18th day of the cycle or the 20th day of cycle if I was under stress. Other times I got my period on the 32nd or 33rd day. My periods have never been regular, but always kind of came during the 21-31 day cycle. However, there was one time when I was 18, and my parents were sending me to France for a French Immersion Programme for 6 weeks. So I was supposed to get my period before the trip, didn't get it, and didn't get it at all in 6 weeks in France, only got it upon my return to Canada after a few days being here. And there was no way I was pregant either, since never had sex with anyone. Sometimes there is spotting between periods, it is ok. Now that I am older (45) I kind of have spotting for at least 4 days, and then my period gets heavy and then spotting again 4-5 days, very irritating, but what can I do. Stress, Fear, a sickness, shock, upheaval, and other things affect the cycle of a period. I will give you another example of what happened to me, I was crossing the road as a pedestrian and a GMC Industrial Van (weighing about 9000 lbs) crashed into me. I had a green light he had red light. I was on heavy day of period. When I got to the hospital by ambulance I was in pain and coudn't really move much so I asked the nurse to check if I needed to change my pad, the nurse said that pad is clear. So that meant the shock of geting hit by a vehicle stopped my period, for at least a day or so. Another thing that can affect your period is if you are underweight, then I have heard that females do not get periods, but maybe they can still get pregnant. So just remember that periods aren't necessarily regular, some people have them regular, and if you are on birth control pill that makes period regular when it comes and when it ends. But, the pill causes cancer, weight gain, I lost my desire to have sex, even, and when I tried the pill in my 40s, since one time my period was 17 days long, and I had enough of these long periods, kind of more on period than off period. So I asked my GP to prescribe the pill to regulate my menstrual cycle and bring my period to 5 -7 days. However, when I took the pill the first day, it gave me a lot of anxiety, and I am already suffering from anxiety without the pill, so I threw them in the garbage.

Sometimes stress can cause irregular periods.
Have you gotten a pap smear lately? It would probably be a good time to get one and talk to the dr or nurse about what is going on...Sometimes even if you are not sexually active they will put you on birth control pills if your period stays irregular, but hopefully it is just a temporary thing.
ohh, and even if you haven't had sex you can get other infections like a bacterial one that has been known to make you spot.

First all, since you are 19, that may mena that your body is adjusting to normal changes. Have you recently begun to hang out with more females (college dorm?) as that will cause your menstruation cycle to change. Have you recently begun birth control or changed yoru perscription? Have you had a change if your sexual activity? This may affect it as well. I am a male - but my girlfriend has been spotting throughout the month - to the point where she has to wear a tampon about 80% of the month.

Honestly, anything could have caused this, stress, dieting, etc. I wouldn't be too worried. Girls at young ages can get irregular periods. I used to get mine at the end of every month but then i missed a month and it came in the middle of the following month.

Periods are also known to change with seasons and become similar with other women's periods. My mom, sister, sister in law, niece and both my brothers girlfriends and myself get our periods within in the same week!

yes, this is absolutely normal, especially if you are under some sort of stress. sometimes, i get mine fifteen days early if i am nervous about an upcoming final, etc. if this continues for a long time, i'd see a doctor, but if its just once in a while, its totally normal. this can also happen if you had surgery, donated blood, were hurt or fell, or were frightened immensely by something. If it concerns you too much, see the doctor, so he or she can explain this further.

Thats not that surprising. it would be new drugs or some thing or only how your physique is often. each and every 24/25 days isnt that surprising and seven-8 days is how long mine is each and every of the time. you're in all possibility large, whether im not an authority. So if its particularly bothering you spot the gyno.

well, its normal for females. our menstrual cycle is never the same. once, i did not get my period for 2 months and then it was normal again. Usually changes in the cycle is attributed to stress level, poor diet and exercise. if you are still uncomfortable that it's not normal, you could always go to the doctor.
