The Impalas of today are OK, but nothing at all like they were back in the 60's and 70's. It's a good, general-purpose automobile. They'd get my vote over the Stratus.

We have an 04 Impala LS, with the 3800 V6. I love it. We drive it back and forth from Minnesota to Florida. We average 30.9 mpg for the entire 1800 miles. It has all the power I need. I've never had to put the gas pedal all the way to the floor. It's comfortable and we haven't had any problems. 37,000 miles I rented a Stratus 3 years ago. This Impala is by far a better car.
One more thing, we wanted the dual climate control and got it.

Just look at the sales figures and it tells the story, the impala wins hands down. The impala is a great driving car and with a v8 you get the feature that you run on 4 cyl. on the highway for a huge gas savings, also the trunk space in it is humongous, I haven't seen a trunk like that since the 50's, a great overall car.

whilst the Caprice first became presented it had the recent on the time huge block 396 engine. It additionally had the recent TH350 and the recent squared off roof line. It became a sporty version of the Impala and it became fairly purely a gussied up Impala like it continuously has been. form of like a Malibu is merely a posh Chevelle and not even an SS, merely fancier.

Nothing makes the Impala stand out except the name of a classic. The "Elder" versions were the best.

The Impala has been around since 60"s, hopefully only improvements have been made

Impala. Even when I was younger, I was a fan of the 57 (way before my time, but still like it) and the years to come.
