As already stated - it depends on what kind of headache you need to look after - here are some examples...

For Sinus headaches a home remedy is strong ginger tea - this will help open nasal passages and relieve the pressure. If you prefer something more "manly" you can try swallowing gobs of wasabi (^_^)

There are also "tension" headaches, cause by muscle contractions. or these type heat or cold packs can work - or alternate the two. Massage can help this type too.

There are many people who get "stess" headaches like from working in brightly lit office, or who are constatnly around "white noise" - rest and darker environments will eventually relieve this type.

There are also headaches that can be a sign of a person being in need of a spinal adjustment - once the spine is corrected the headache will be relieved

General remedies if you are not sure WHY you have a headache: drink a cup of hot water (avoid caffine) then try deep breathing in a dark room, with warm or cold packs or massage - especially with tiger balm, peppermint or eucalptus oils. Massage your head and neck gently or try pinching the acupressure point which is the in the webbing between the thumb and index finger on the meatiest part of the muscle there - there are also acupressure points on your feet that you can learn through reiki, shiatsu, or some other similar tradition.

There are so many types! The best way to deal with headaches is to live well and avoid them! Headaches are a sympton that something is wrong - grinding teeth, foods your body is sensative to, not drinking enough water, not getting enough sleep etc... so the best thing to do is get enough sleep, know how to relax to reduce stress - eat well and drink enough WATER... learn what is best for you.

What works best for me (love making:), may not be the best remedy for you! - so check out the links in my sources below and explore!

Hope that helps!

I know this is probably the most idiotic, strange answer, but it suprisingly works for me. What I do is smack my forehead either with my hand, or preferrably a pillow of any size or shape. Sometimes it can be a big help in a few cases. Another option would be to try sleeping it off, but I'm sure you've already thought of that. Good luck.
