Who are North Korea's allies? Everybody is calling for sanctions right now. China has said they will not engage in military action. China never announces that they are attacking anybody. Not until the very last minute. While they are talking peace they have been mobilizing their army, just in case, know what I mean. Would they back DPRK or USA, Japan, South Korea if it comes to a shooting war? Who knows, your guess is as good as anybody's.
Where is Russia in this? Who would they back? If you look at where DPRK is on the map and where everybody is it would be foolish for anybody to invade! Also consider that everybody considers Kim il Jong to be a nutcase who would detonate nuclear weapons if he was invaded, and unlike Saddam, Kim il Jong actually has them and might have up to eight of them. China would lose Manchuria province to fallout, South Korea would be lost to fallout, Japan would likely be lost to fallout, Russia would lose her only Pacific Ocean port to fallout and most of two of her provinces. Kim is requesting one on one talks with USA. I think it would be foolish not to talk. I also think it would be foolish to put the head of an American puppet state, especially of South Korea, into the General Secretary's office of the UN at this time. If everybody plays real smart this will settle down. If anybody plays dumb all bets are off. There is no way to tell who would win, and at this time you can't even be sure who is on what team.

The USA has few allies remaining, when serious situations like this arise. Fortunately, North Korea has even fewer.
The USA would win easily, BUT please realize that this is a special case. We are NOT loved around the world, and we are NOT seen as the wonderful champions of liberty and justice and freedom that some of us think we are.
We have a lot to learn. But the case of North Korea is easy to
predict.

If you are talking about a computer simulation to examine tactical possibilities, it's no contest. The US, South Korea, and Japan, would beat North Korea essentially 100% of the time, even with some assistance from China, which in full war would be economically crushed within a year by the inevitable trade blockade with the US and parts of Europe.
But it ain't that easy. Vietnam was won on the battlefield, but lost because the USA no longer was interested in winning, and unwilling to committ to winning that war. Terrorists group thrive because we simply don't dedicate the resources to eliminate them. Such would probably be the same in Korea. Again. The same political movements who would criticize the USA for our nuclear arms would not want us to fight against a regime who was much more likely to actually detonate one in battle, or sell it to someone who would detonate it.

Seriously it ain't gonna happen. If it did we'd crush them, who are they're allies anyway. China I don't think so. Russia not them either.
First the North Korean's have about a zillion artillery pieces hidden along the DMZ within range of the South Korean capital. And have threatened to level it as soon as anything starts. Bad news is most people think they could level it before anyone could stop them.
That's one reason we won't do anything to them. The second is China, South Korea and Japan don't want us dropping Nukes in their back yard.
Once we cut off the food they're done anyway. I've heard stories about the North Korean's stripping bark off trees and raiding grave yards for food. China is loaded up with the one's that have sneaked across their border.

Diplomacy is the only way out of this one. Once you nuke eachother, your whole country is pretty much finished. And when it comes to a nuclear arms race, North Korea has no allies. They do, however, still have the bomb and a very shaky economy that could put that bomb into the hands of some folks that are much more likely to use it on us. That's the biggest fear at this point.

Bush would win, not the USA, I really don't think that much of Bush's actions reflect the general public's views at all. So if war did break out, Bush wouldn't hesitate to send troops or shoot missles at North Korea.

as of now, i think the US and allies would. you can't leave out the surrounding countries though. o would not put china, south korea and japan as an ally to us, but they are not going to sit and let them attack anyone. they would be too vulnerable themselves. north korea is surrounded by countries who want sanctions put on them. they will not be affraid to defend themselves either. i think US plus allies, plus rest of world who doesn't support north koreas plans.

Such a terrible war would have no winner. North Korea would be the defender and they could get very desperate if they were about to be overrun.

If the libs would let us, we could win the war without sending a single troop over... Unfortunately, politcal correctness will not allow that... the only way the US can lose a war is if we allow it. We are the only people that can defeat us. We did it in Vietnam!
