I have the same problem. For example, I'm procrastinating right now by posting this rather than finishing my homework.
However, there are things you can do to stop procrastinating. I usually unplug my internet adapter, or shut off my computer and even pull the plug after it is shut off.
I feel that since it'll be too much of a pain to turn the computer back on, it won't distract me.
I have problems when I need to do my homework using internet research, because there are so many distractions online.
Sometimes, its best to give yourself a time limit. For example, if you have an essay, say something like, "I'm going to finish this paragraph no matter what in 15 minutes by 9:00 pm."
Making short goals, is much easier than making long goals, like "I'm going to finish this 3 page essay in 2 hours." Those don't work because its easier to get sidetracked the longer you work on something.
Also, with short goals, you have more flexibility and can take a few minutes break between each short goal or paragraph.
One more thing. BY READING THIS, YOU ARE PROCRASTINIATING AND WASTING EVEN MORE TIME.

I procrastinate a lot too, and finally came to the conclusion that it was because I have so many things to do that I get overwhelmed and don't do any of them. So I find that making a list of the things that I need to do, and only selecting one or two that I'm going to do each day, helps a lot.
