any ideas why.... I have a disk for school that I have to install into cd-rom drive... i put the disk in and it will not run... most the time when i put something in there it will go atuomatcily without any help from me and now on this disk it will not... any ideas why?? and how to fix this problem???

i have a sony vaio with windows xp version 2002... in case this helps any

Try clicking My Computer, and then double-clicking your CD drive. If there is an autostart function on the CD, it will appear. If not, the window will change to display the contents of the CD itself. If you're installing something, look for a file called install.exe or setup.exe, and double-click it. That should start the installation program.

check the disk drive with a music cd , if that works ok then its the disk has gone funny make sure the disk is clean on both side's not just one

It seems the CD is not configured to auto run. Open your windows explorer and browse the CD. Locate the directory that has the SETUP.EXE then double click it.

sometimes if you have a dicky cd you can freeze it then it will work for a limited amount of time. Enough time for you to extract what information you need. Its worth giving a go. It has worked for me.
