Pray for them not just for them but with them, and send them an encouraging letter/scripture verse. (1Peter 4:12-13- Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; But rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings, that you may also be glad with exceeding joy. I would suggest you make them dinner. Most of all letting them know you care. I think you are doing what you can. prayer is a very powerful tool.Use it. May be if you are willing to help out by taking care of the boy for a little while on the weekend to give the parents some time out.Things like that can be stressfull.,and the parents may apperciate a break. This also gives you time to encourage the boy as well by showing your love for him. I work at a bible college and yes I will ask all to pray for the boy and his family. If you need support Iam here to listen at any time.

It is so sad to hear of anyone with aggresive cancer, especially a young child. Of course I will pray for him. Be there to listen (& maybe cry) when they want to talk. Also offer to run errands, clean house, do laundry, cook meals etc. Don't wait for them to ask. If you see that something needs to be done, either do it or at least offer to do it. Sometimes in these cases, the parents just can't even think straight so all these things help. I will put his family & you in prayer also. Thank you so much for wanting to help instead of just saying empty word.

Prayer won't do a darned thing. Making a donation to the cancer society and getting to the hospital to actually spend time with the lad will.

Yes, they are in my prayers tonight.

As far as things to help...it sounds silly but bringing over prepared and frozen meals can be really helpful when people are in kind of a crisis. There are a few other tips on this website below.

Take care...

You could share your faith with the family and be there for them during the crisis. You are already doing something by asking for prayer. I will pray also and I'm sure many others will who read this request.

I suppose I could spare a warm fuzzy thought or two for him. I don't believe it'll do anything, but hey, the thought's there for whatever it's worth.

It would have been nice to have known a first name or some initials at least. It's difficult to give thoughts to someone I completely don't know.

Done. I prayed for this family and for you to be able to comfort them in this time of need.

If the boys family is Christian you can remind them of God's Soverienty and Ecclesiastes (I think it may be chapter 3 - not sure of that though) where there is a time to be born and a time to die. God will determine the time. You hear everyday of people surviving the odds.He may be one of them.
I hope this does not shake their fatih. My husband has had 6 back operations, 4 heart attacks, open heart surgery, is diabetic, has had 4 ulcers (one bled and required a blood transfusion) and all I can say is to read Proverbs 3:5 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding' (this helps me so much to just remember that God is in control and it's not for me to understand)
Also in Isaiah (I think it is ch 55) God's ways are higher than our ways.
You just have to keep remembering that God has a purpose for everything that happens. (refer to Ecclesiastes)

Other than that, just put your arms around them, listen to them when they just want to 'vent' and try to help in little ways - invite them to dinner, help her to clean house, offer to drive her son to a Dr appt.. ect.

i don't know how to say praying words in English, but i could write down in Lithuanian.

teve musu kuris esi danguja
teesie sventas tavo vardas teateine tavo karaliste, teesia tavo valia,

Amen.
