thats all up to you, and how much you want to care for it/can handle...

Get a kitty of the opposite sex. I wouldn't reccommend getting a small kitten. Cats don't have the same instinct as dogs about babies of their kind, so if you get a cat that is more or less the same age as yours, you will be fine. I would say between 6 months to a year.

As they will be more or less the same size, once they have gotten over being frightened by each other, they will play really well together!

Also, a young kitten could end up being bullied by your cat, or could, in turn, be the bully, as they have SO much energy and may torment your current cat!

More important than sex and age is, of course, temperament. When you go to the SPCA to pick up your new kitty, do what I did. Take the cat that you like out of it's cage, and put it next to another cage so you can see what reaction it has with other cats. If it's calm and trots up curiously, then it's a fairly laid back kitty and will adjust more easily. If it puffs up and hisses madly, look for another one!

If your present cat is female a male cat would be best. A loveable guy around her age.

If your cat is a male then a female would be OK or a male.

Could be a kitten and an older kitten would be better and less trouble for you.

If your cat is a female you can get a female or a male, but if your cat is a male get a female cause male cats will fight and get a kitten they are less aggressive and it can grow up to like the other.

it depends if u want your 1 year old cat to give birth to several more kittens then u know what to do!

if u wan a playful pet to keep u company then i suggest u get a kitten doesn't matter if its a female or male because both are very playful.

if u wan a more independent one then u should get an adult cat.

Get a kitten, adult cats usually get used to kittens faster than with other adult cats.

It depends on the sex of your cat. If you have a girl it's best to get a boy. If it's a boy and they will both be fixed either one is fine. A baby is usually easier to introduce to a house that has a senior cat. If your cat is pretty easy going then an adult cat will be fine too! ♥ Good Luck to you... Best Wishes!!!

I think you should get a cat the same age. Only get the opposite sex if you plan on neutering or spaying, unless you want kittens almost every 3 months.

If they are Spayed or Neutered it should not matter. However, I find my male cats to be much more affectionate than my females. My females are loving but come when you call.My males are always there wanting attention.

This depends so much on you and on what cat you think your cat would get along with.
Please consider adoption instead of buying a cat.
