Almost two weeks ago, I posted this
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AheZrWmEu8.JQ9Fh4ry4wr3sy6IX?qid=20061003143258AApUlU7
Everyone assured me that it was water weight. Even my doctor says it was. Since then, I have been drinking copious amounts of water and continuing on the diuretics to get rid of the weight I gained. The scale has not budged. Today the doc said to double up on the diuretics.
I'm fairly certain that even though I gained this weight overnight, it is not water weight.
So does anyone know what causes a gain in weight of 5 lbs overnight that will not go away? I started Effexor which had no effect on my weight in the first month.
Thanks!

OMG! Stop the Effexor! I mean it!!
Woah, sorry I know I sound panicked but that is what happened to me. I used to eat whatever and never gain weight and then I started taking Effexor. I started having horrible nightmares and I gained weight like CRAZY! I gained almost 10 lbs in one week and the doctor tested my thyroid, etc and said it was just weight gain.
I googled effexor at the time and found some other people with the same problem, but nothing proven. I wish I had stopped taking it much sooner than I did :( I gained a lot of weight very quickly and I still haven't lost it.
Actually, when I first started reading your question I thought of myself and the Effexor and so when I read your last sentence I got chills. People might say that the effexor wouldn't cause it, but my extra pounds have always told me otherwise.
