I would definitely confront them.. for one thing... after I confronted them, I would have no choice but to talk to the supervisor, but at least if I confront them first, I might be able to add some reasoning, if there could possibly be any. People who do not get caught, and never have to pay the price for things, only gives them more courage to continue stealing. A pencil today, a car tomorrow..

I am a "supervisor" and can tell you taht in almost every place I have worked the person who steals gets tosse and/or arrested and anyone who knew and didn't report it gets fired. The theif obviously can't be trusted... and neither can the person who covered it up.
Unless you are living with that person, they are a co-worker - not family. Keep a question in your head... "Is this person worth my job?"

Say...you would be reluctant to say anything because the supervisor might use your name, but you would tell anyway because you think of the company as a family and when someone steals from the family, they are stealing from you. It's aload of bull, but if you get the job, who cares.

I would approach them, and ask if that's what they were doing. I would ask why they did it. If they continue 3 or 4 times, I might consider talking to the supervisor, or I might chicken out.

You need to talk the company line here and say that you would report it to the supervisor immediately. Good luck!

report immediately- you would want to continue working with a person of such low moral character? Failure to report would make you as giulty as if you had stolen the item yourself. Thou shalt not steal! Maybe this will be a turning point for your co-worker- pray for them.

tell of course, unless it is your own manager/supervisor, then tell human resources. also, do not tell co-workers about what is going on. gossip doesn't go over well with employers.
