Plus if the 15/19 year old gets tickets it adds one year onto full licensing. Over 5,000 15/21 year old DIE EACH YEAR. DEAD! in the ground never to contribute the new soft wear innovation! New Face lift procedure! New clothing!
It's my generations fault! we have not insisted in more education enforcement of insurance and laws. Gradulated licences!

No, I don't think it should.

I do think that parents should have enough guts to not let their teenager drive until they feel they are ready. Not everybody is a good driver at 16, but some are.

Farm-raised children, for instance, have been driving tractors around the farm for years, and they have a much better feel for the operation of an automobile because of that. Families who live in rural areas and small towns need for their teens to be able to drive as soon as possible, because that is the only mode of transportation.

When my teens got their driver's license, we made a rule that their first year was still a training year, and they would use the car only when it was for our benefit-- no joyriding or social driving. This worked out very well... then, they felt privileged (as they SHOULD) when they got to use the car. It also encouraged them to buy their own car and insure it as soon as possible, which required them to get a weekend job and stick with it.

No, its fine the way it is, the earlier they start the better they will get when they get older. Plus, it gives the teenager a sense of independence, they will no longer have to rely on their parents giving them a ride to school, and we all know how embarrassing that is, and they don't have to ride the school bus either, again embarrassing. Plus, if parents do a good job of teaching them and monitoring them, they wouldn't be out driving where ever they feel like it. When I got my driver's license, I only drove to school and back, didn't go anywhere else without permission or escort. After my parents began to trust me, I can go where ever I want by myself. Also, just because someone is young does not mean they are incapable of driving, there are always exceptions to everything, and you should not penalize those who do know how to drive well and can obey laws and such.

i dont think it should because now a days more and more employers hire people under 18 and its inconvinient to catch the bus....BUT.... 18 is a good age to drive cuz SOME jits love to drive crazy and cause accidents but we shouldnt ruin the chances of the others that want to get a job and be responsible at an early age...

Yes...16 year olds can't even keep their rooms clean and we are going to trust them with a vehicle that can kill? I think the driving limit should be from 18-55...then take the license away at 55.

Yes I am a hypocrite. I think yes it should, but I feel it will not do any good. Experience is the only teacher. I'm not a psychotherapist. But, people mature at all different levels. I just don't know. Talk about a waste of a post.

I don't think so. People have to earn incomes and believe it or not there is a substantial working population of sixteen year olds who are responsible for getting siblings to school on time and working part time jobs. The American family is overworked enough, imagine if you had to lose your full time job just so you could drive your kids to school.

yeah, I think so. While I know some states have laws guiding when a minor can drive and with certain passengers-like my state, no one including parents follow it.

it's always a few bad apples that ruin it for everyone.

no, but the damn old people need to be taken off the road, been hit twice both by people over 65, old people are dangerous,like the dude that drove through that market? and they go like 55 on the highway. So annoying.

No, not in my opinion. I do believe that many 16 year olds are responsible enough but many are not and it should be up to the parents to decide if the 16 year old is mature enough.
