I am not adverse to home schooling, whatever it would take to let children learn properly would be an advantage!!

often enough they do, but don't care enough, or have their focus elsewhere. Many kids just aren't interested in that sort of thing...
not to mention the teachers aren't allowed to do much more than ask them to please stop bad behavior...

It is because of todays society. When i was in school, it wasn't as different as it is now. Ask your parents what school was like when they were in school, and back then, it was a totally different society. And the question is what is accepted by the society and the going on's of todays world. back in the 60's and the 70's, teenage pregnancy was shunned and almost unheard of, and now, they have programs for teen mothers and teens who are pregnant. and also, alot of teens these days are not taught correctly proper ettiquette because the parents are not strict enough to show the kids who's the boss, and kids getting away with not showing authority figures the respect they deserve.
All in all, the parents are not around enough to enforce the rules because with a mother and a father in the home, 9 times out of 10, they both work to support the family

It's the teachers. Not the parents or the students. Teachers do not get paid enough for what they do. They are tired of talking all the abuse from the children they teach and don't care any longer. And I know this for a fact, my oldest daughter was a teacher and she said the kids did not listen, did not care. she went and got a Master, now she teaches adults, executives the right and wrong on how to make and employee feel comfortable. The money has not comparison. Teachers need to get paid more, they are truly underpaid.

at this point the no child left behind act is doing more for the detriment of our school system then ever before,it seems that it works on and incentive basis ie; if the kids dont make the grade the school loses funding, teachers are scared for themselves there schools and there students, i have three kids in school,1 is in first grade another in 6th grade and the third is in middle school, over the yrs since the no child left behind act ive watched the teachers go from being kind and loving supportive teachers to scared shitless, thanks again george bush your brilliance is astounding, and quite frankly my kids are rather blessed because i live in a small town with and excellent school system, growing up in a city it was a nightmare for me and it would be worse for my kids now.

I wonder if you also oppose homeschooling? The schools aren't doing the job so some parents are taking thier children out of school to make sure they are properly educated.

The entire USA is one huge pool of ignorance - from our government, oozing throughout the rest of the land. A total disgrace.

As soon as the teacher drums the correct grammer into their heads they go home and their parents spend the entire evening/weekend undoing it. All you have to do is listen to whats coming out of the mouths of the parents when your out in public.
"Ain't" "Git r done" "I'm done my dinner" instead of "I'm finished" to name a few. Its a no win situation.
