Thinking in black and white means you have a very narrow perspective, both extreme, and that you're not considering all the points of view, all the grey areas that go into any reasonable, balanced opinion. It has nothing to do with race.

Black and white thinking means seeing the world only in terms of extremes. If things aren't "perfect," then they must be "horrible." If your child isn't "brilliant" then he must be "stupid." If you're not "fascinating" then you must be "boring." In real-life, situations are almost always shades of gray, not black or white. Falling victim to black and white thinking tends to exacerbate depression, marital conflict, anxiety, and a host of other everyday problems.

If someone is askign you to think in black and white, they are asking you to essentially give a yes or no type of answer. If they are telling you that you tend to 'think in black and white', they are saying that your thought process and subsquent thoughts are simple and may be lacking depth. B/W thinking is closer to an ideology of "realism" and tends to appear in people who are relatively introverted vs extroverted people who tend to see the many sides of an issue.
