Your dog is curious about his new friend. He wants to figure out what the kitty is exactly. It's good that your dog has not been mean with the new kitty. This probably means that he has a good nature about him.
And most of the time animals know that the new creature in their territory (your house), is indeed a baby and needs guidance or protection (your kitty). Until your cat gets older and lets your dog know "hey, your not going to step on me or play with me unless I want you to", your dog will probably continue to "test" his boundries with your kitty.

because she wants to make it move or react in order to bite it. You must NOT allow the dog to do this as he is capable of causing terrible internal damage to the kitten. Common sense should tell you that your dog is simply not safe around this kitten and either remove him from the house or remove the kitten to where he doesn't come in contact with the dog. Do it before you have a severely damaged or traumatised kitten.
I'm amazed at some of the utterly naive or downright stupid replies from people saying that the dog just wants to be friends and it will be fine. One even said "trust me, it will be fine". A psychologist once said that if someone says "trust me" then they are not to be trusted !

sounds like the dog is trying to figure out just what this fluffy ball of fur is and why it makes different noises than the dog is used to.
Your dog is trying to play. Discourage the dog from stepping on it due to risk of injury to the kitten. She needs to realize the kitten is not a chew toy for her entertainment.
Make sure you give some love and attention to the dog when the kitten is around to avoid the dog feeling jealous.

Your dog trys to step on your cat because it doesn't like the cat. The dog might feel like the cat gets more attention. So if you spend a little more time with your dog then the cat you might see a change if not he is just jealous cause you have anything to do with the cat.

The dog is probably just "exploring" the kitten and its reactions. You must watch it though because, depending on the weight of the dog, he could damage the kitten internally.

Maybe the dog thinks the kitten is too bouncy for it's own good. Animals control their young that way. Just talk nicely to your dog, while lifting her paw off the kitten.

Your dog's just *****-footing around. It's probably excited by the things the kitten gets up-to.
