After being saved for just over a year, I have tottaly gave my life to Christ. So have not gone to bars, clubs, ect. But I really love to dance. I belive that I am strong enough no to be influenced by anyone else. if anything I would influence them. so.....I really want to go country dancing do a little two stepping. Country is usually love songs and I lost my dog songs right? so wouldnt that be alright, I am not going to where they play rap, ( yall know what they say in most rap songs) Ill would be going with a few good friends who enjoy dancing as well, no drinking. How ever at my church I am the male dance leader in the Dance Ministry. so would that also make me look bad?

Hey ricky,
There are many ministries (such as the one that you lead) where our talents can be used for the Lord.
You have all the freedom in Christ to do whatever you want- but you need to be careful that your freedom doesn't cause another to stumble. That is the real question? Not will it make you look bad? (Remember as Jesus did- put others before yourself).
I would say first of all you are going with a group of friends who know you- and esp. if they're from your church- they'll know that you're just going to have fun and refine your dance skills. You may check with your church leaders and receive their counsel. Ultimately you need to listen to the Holy Spirit but i would say if someone is stumbled by it don't do it. From what your describing i don't imagine there should be a reason people are stumbled... but i don't know how conservative your church is.
Hope that helps brother,
Nickster

I am a Christian - I don't think there is a problem going to dance as long as you go in, dance a while and leave early. Don't hang around because there starts the problems, and you could get tempted even if you have the best intentions.
If possible take people you trust (other Christians) with you to dance with. If the dancing starts at eight be there at eight and leave at ten. - or don't go.
But best of all give it to the Lord and you can don't go at all that is best.
Too bad dance places have to have that element - but they do.
Honor God first - I will pray for you.

I am a Christian. I dont know why anyone would condemn you for dancing. But if you feel like it is some kind of compromise of your walk with the Lord... Listen to the Holy Spirit man. No one on Yahoo can tell you if it ok or not ok to do something like this (something the Bible doesnt spell out as being sin). Do what you feel is right. If you got a clean conscience about it, do it. If you dont, dont.

Sounds like you have a question behind the question! There is apparently something that you are struggling with here. Be objective about it. Will this lead you into the occasion of sin? Will it objectively lead others into sin? How are you going to best serve in the situation? That's what it's all about my friend.

the only thing i'm getting from this is that you love to dance which sounds like that's what God put in your heart to do. if anything, follow His word and go dance! you don't need other's answers to tell you what you already know! you can make a great impact on people and keeping yourself from them isn't going to help them any. jesus didn't help people by staying in the church. He went out there amongst the sinners to help them. go dance! you don't need me to tell you!

Your one of those radicals that think that listening to rap or heavy metal will somehow condem you..If you go a bar will your god be so angry as to send you to hell..The last I checked you can drink just as long as the liquor you drink comes from a fruit right??or do u not read enough to know this..

a lot of churches would condemn it, but David danced before the lord with all his might, psalms also says to praise the lord in the dance.
it might look bad to some, but if you feel alright about it then the lord hasn't convicted you of it and it is O.K.
