i want to join the army national guard and practice pharmacy in it, but i was also wondering if they can deploy you while you are in college or do they wait till you graduate. and if you could tell me anything about basic training that would be great, and is there anyone who has been to iraq...what is it like over there and are you in anyway mentally scared from the experience, if you had to do basic training again...would you?!?

yes, you can be deployed while in colllege if you join the Guard. The only time you cannot be deployed while in college is if you are comissioning through ROTC.

bad time to join the army or any of the armed forces ..IMO
Perhaps go a differant route try getting a job at a hostpital anywhere from housekeeping to kitchen and then see the programs they have for employees who want into medical school alot of times they pay for your school if you sign a contract with them to work there for a while when your done w/ school .
Or some drug stores like CVS may do the same and I would reccomend that options first over the military.

in a nutshell......don't.

Becoming a pharmacist is OK, just don't do it in the guard. I know some guys that got deployed during '91. They would tell you exactly what I am telling you now.
