I just summed up the A100 vs. the Nikon D80 three questions above yours in this section:

I'd get the D80 or even the Canon 400D instead.

You can read the reviews below to judge for yourself...
However, the A100 does not seem to produce low noise shots at ISO 800...(which sort of defeats the purpose of having the dslr).
If you want good performance at high ISO then stick with Canon or Nikon.
