My cats have fleas and I have tried so hard to get rid of them. I have given them bathes, bought them collars but nothing is helping. I love them so much and it is hard to see them getting all bitten up. Is there anything you can put on the carpet to kill them? Should I just get a bug bomb and set it off in my apartment?

You need to bomb your apartment, twice. Once now, and once in two weeks. Get a reliable brand not something on special, as offered by your local hardware, as we did. Probably it was expiring, and I saw a large spider in the basement the very next day. A bomb is easy. All you need to do it to cover your fruit and any food left out (toothbrushes etc.)
Also, Frontline drops really help kill fleas and eggs.
Finally, you should vacuum thoroughly every day. And every day, right after you vacuum, throw the bag out (and empty your trash) so fleas do not jump right back out again. If you don't have a bagless vacuum, you can buy one by Eureka with bags at Best But for less than $100 total.
I think it's tough this time of year. It seems fleas and ticks are trying to get inside to a warmer place for the winter.
They hatch out every two weeks. If you comb your cats it helps too.

I just answered a question similar to this one so I'll just copy and paste what I wrote him because I wrote a lot! Okay here it is:
We have had this problem before. Frontline worked miracles on our cats. This is what I did. I sprayed the Frontline on a rag and then put it round their ears first, then everywhere else. Then, I took my cats and put them in a kennel and took them outside the house. I put those bombs that kill the fleas in each room...two if the room is big. After the bombs are done, you can go back in and the fleas should be gone. I also vacuumed the house after the bombs were through to pick up all the dead fleas and eggs. To keep the fleas away, you put Frontline on them once a month. Goodluck and I hope if you do this that it works for you too!

Frontline or Advantage, as recommended by many, are a great idea. My favourite is Revolution, which works the same way. It will kill all the fleas in your cats within hours of applying the drops, and will eventually kill the ones in your carpet as well.

You do need to reapply it once a month to prevent reinfection. It will also protect the cats against several types of worms.

Note that some cats don't particularly like the product, despite it being a single drop applied to the back of the neck. The smell is somewhat strong (for them), so the second time you apply it the cat may not be as cooperative as the first time... do it when he's sleeping.

you can also bathe them in dawn dish liquid, it will sufficate the fleas and is harmless even on young kittens... yes use the bug bomb but remember to do it 2 weeks after the first time so when the next batch of eggs hatch that the bomb didn't kill the first time it will kill this time... but you have to remove the cats from the area!!! and if you are doing all this and it's not working you might need to get the good stuff which is from the vet!!! the flea medicine from the vet. good luck with everything...

Go to the vet he has frontline. You want the spray. on squirt for each pound of your cat. it will kill all eggs, fleas and anything that jumps on them. next you need to go clean your home very well, sweep with the spray (it will last for 1 month) and the cleaning that should be the end of all flea's it is what i use. and i wouldn't use anything else. as far as flea collars are concerned they only help on the neck wherever the touch, not the hole cat or dog. after you get the frontline as the vet if there anything you can use to get rid of the fleas in your home. if you don't want to wait that long. for all the flea to go bye bye it should only take weeks, but i would keep the frontline up to date on the cats for a few months then you should be home free as long as they don't go outside, if so then keep it up once a month.

You may want to do a thorough cleaning of your apartment to get rid of any fleas. Otherwise, even if your cats get rid of them from their bodies, the fleas can come right back.
Use a good once-a-month treatment like Revolution or Frontline.
It is more effective than a collar.

Put them on and keep them on Frontline or Advantage drops from the Vet. In the meantime get the flea carpet cleaner and you can even buy a spray for funiture to clean up the environment. As long as they stay indoors and you continue with the drops they should be gone and stay gone.

get Advantage from the vet. You will need to have someone (perferably an exterminator) come out to get the fleas AND THE EGGS out of your carpeting or this cycle will continue. It is fustrating and a little expensive, but will be worth it in the long run. Don't waste your money on over the counter junke and home remedys. Its a waste of time and money.

Try Advantage for cats. you can try the flea bombs but you will most likely have to board your cats for a couple of days as well as you staying elsewhere

I read some where that you can put salt down around the floors and that will dehydrate them, and kill them off. Also some one told me to get Brewers Yeast and dust your cat with it. I have to get some tomorrow and try it. Just thought I would pass it along.
