I don't believe it mentions this in the Holy Qur'an, however I am definitely sure that this is a practise of all the prophets that existed, especially so of the last Nabi who encouraged the growing of the beard (kept tidy at all times), and shaving the moustache.

To follow these practises is to emulate the actions of those most beloved of our Creator.

May Allah grant you beneficial knowledge and the courage to share and encourage others as in my favourite surah of the Holy Qur'an - Surah Wal Asr...as salamu alaykum...

NO WHERE in the Quran does the Quran concern itself with the beard nor does the Quran command that the Muslim male should follow what may have been accepted 1400 years ago as a style or convenient.

Some Muslims would rather be seen to belong to some group of sorts than follow the commands of the Quran.

Hadith is not revelation and some Muslims love to be entertained by fabulous hadith.

Quran is WHOLE and COMPLETE and does not need the hear-say support of hadith. You should hear some of the Tableegh hadith? They are so funny.

In Qur'an there is no mention about growing or keeping beard.

But it is mentioned in Hadiths:

1. Narrated Ibn 'Umar: Allah's Apostle said, "Cut the moustaches short and leave the beard (as it is)." (Book #72, Hadith #781)

2. Narrated Nafi': Ibn Umar said, The Prophet (pbuh) said, 'Do the opposite of what the pagans do. Keep the beards and cut the moustaches short.

3. Ibn Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be opon him) said: Act against the polytheists, trim closely the moustache and grow beard.

So keeping beard is Sunnah, whoever does that will be rewarded.

It seems some Muslims like to do as the prophet did in his lifetime. Growing a beard is one of these things as the prophet also had a beard. There is reward to do as the prophet did. There is no guidance in the Quran about beards, we can choose to grow one if we wish, do not think that you must grow a beard, it is entirely up to you if you want to grow one. Another thing that the prophet did that many Muslims also do is to open our fasts with a date. There is no specific ruling in the Quran or the Hadith about opening your fast with a date but we do it because the prophet did, and it has become a tradition to do so, I myself only eat dates during Ramadan. I also do not have a beard.

Salaamu alaiykum akhi Beard does no longer recommend something to one's piety. i've got seen pupils with beards and that i've got seen rapists, terrorists, and peodaphiles with beards (yeah muslim ones). besides the indisputable fact that, you're appropriate it is fard and would Allah help the ummah to uphold the Sunnah. as long as human beings do no longer look down upon others who do no longer. i could quite be pals with a regretful guy or woman and not making use of a beard then a proud condescending guy or woman with a beard. Nuff suggested Salaam.

I believe Muslim men grow beards through choice, it is Sikhs who do not cut the hair or shave. I am not a following of either of these religions so apologise in advance if I've got this wrong.
