My step-daughter is a wonderful young lady! Her dad and I missed her birthday because she was not in town, so I'd like to have a belated party, a small party, keep it simple (my budget is really tight right now) but I want it memorable.

I need themes, and/or games, and/or decorations, and/or gift ideas.
Thank you so much!

My family always ops for dinner out.

I'm assuming your husband would want to be involved, since you did say it's your step-daughter, and that might throw out my best suggestion: a spa night/slumber party. I know that sounds weird, but I'm in my twenties, and with two kids, girls-night-out doesn't happen much. A bunch of my married friends and I got together a little while back, went over to one of their houses, kicked their husband out for the night (I think that may have been her favorite part of the night), and had a slumber party. We wore our jammies, did pedicures and facials, sang kareoke, watched chick-flicks, and it was neat because it was kind of nostalgic.

It really depends on the age and personality, for example im 16 and highly athletic and very into music so for my bday we had a small party with some of my friends with music, junk food, and movies (Almost Famous, Bend it like Beckham, Lords of Dogtown). It just really depends on personality.

invite some close family members, have a large cake, and decorate the house with what her interests are. what did she say she always want? get her that for the gift. iPod is a good idea. or if nothing else comes to mind, a gift card.

Sometimes you have to do what is FUN. Fun times usually become memories. If you fight or argue that is NOT something you remember.

A LITTLE STORY THAT MIGHT HELP (THE MORAL IS THE SAME).

If you're a cowboy, and you're dragging a guy behind your horse, I bet it would really make you mad if you looked back and the guy was reading a magazine.
